I love it when new boites open in Soho and the West Village, especially when the are so close to the Soho Playhouse, where my long-running Off-Broadway comedy show plays every Saturday night at 11:00 pm. The latest addition to the neighborhood is Bar Ciccio Alimentari, open on Sixth Avenue in an underground spot that was formerly part of an antiques row. The place is charming and a perfect spot for a pre-show drink or dinner.
The menu is so good it’s hard to choose what to have. You can’t go wrong with the salami or the mushroom polenta. Or try one of the mouth-watering pastas — ricotta and spinach ravioli, pappardelle wiht lamb ragu or spaghetti with clams. And wash that down with a glass of wine or beer. And, you’re only about 100 steps from Soho Playhouse. Two weeks ago, we had a huge group from the show go to Bar Ciccio Alimentari, and they raved about their experience.
Tell ‘em Ted sent you.
